Career Reflection Artifact
Below you will find an interview with my mom about her career progress. Alicia Cummings, my mom, is an accomplished real estate attorney who owns her own firm, Crowley and Cummings LLC. The firm, founded over twenty years ago, now operates all throughout New England and Florida with six offices in Massachusetts. In the interview she walks me through her career journey, what she values in a career, and her hopes for me in my own career.

My mom's emphasized three main concepts she values in her job: self-employment, consistent and continued networking, and charitable work. Her career has shifted and evolved throughout her years since college, where she was a psychology major and intent on a career in that field before quickly changing gears to a career in law. Early on, as she encouraged me to also do, she built a strong network and the necessary business acumen. In retrospect, her early career and jobs were stepping stones, vital to gain knowledge, but not necessarily positions to settle into. Instead, they were simply needed to grow as a person and a businesswoman. Using these skills and connections, my mom built a law-firm from the ground up which has grown exponentially ever since. Her insights were invaluable to me, especially early on in my career journey, where, as she explained, building a foundation is of the utmost importance.
